Zelensky Says US Fails to Support Adequate Missile Production in Europe
“There were promises of licenses, but ultimately, the US did not agree to this,” Zelenskyy said during an evening video address on Tuesday. He stressed that Ukraine proposed producing missiles on its own territory and through joint programs with NATO partners such as Romania and Poland.
“Such decisions and such production would definitely strengthen all of us, all of Europe,” he added, emphasizing the need for Europe to develop its own air defense missile capabilities—a topic expected to be discussed in the coming weeks.
Zelenskyy acknowledged that some progress has been made, with missile production being developed and expanded, but described the pace as “insufficient.”
“I am confident that Europe will still be able to provide itself with the necessary volumes and defense strength. But it would be far better for everyone if this result were achieved sooner,” he said.
